Chagga Village Day Trip

Daily Tour 1 day
Chagga Street, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania Tour Guide: KiliTwende

In the morning, you will be picked up in Moshi by our guide. Your tour will lead you first to the Kilimanjaro National Park Headquarter at Marangu gate, the drive takes approximately one hour.

The Marangu Gate at 1860 meters is the starting point of the Marangu route and is one of the most popular of all the routes in Kilimanjaro. You’ll receive a briefing on the history of Kilimanjaro, the beginning of its ascent routes, and some success stories. During your visit at the gate you also have the opportunity to observe the mountaineers in their preparations. Afterwards, we will take a short hike to a nearby valley with a small waterfall, which the locals call the “evergreen valley”.

After the hike it is time to learn more about the history of the Chagga tribe. You’ll get to visit the caves which are more than 200 years old. These were dug up by the Chagga with the help of Maasai people during the war time. The caves were used to hide the children and women during the Maasai attacks. In your excursion trip, you’ll have the opportunity to visit Chagga house’s replica.

Before having lunch, you will visit the very beautiful Kilasiya Waterfall. The short but exhausting trail is worth the effort. After lunch you will take a drive back to Moshi.
