What You Can Expect?

Begin with 8am pickup at your Moshi/Arusha town hotel, and then take in views of the Tanzania countryside on the 2/3-hour drive to Tarangire National Park. Keep an eye on the herds of buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, and gazelle on a morning game drive. You should also spot leopard, cheetah, and 700 resident lions. The park of Tarangire is said to house the largest concentration of elephants on earth with group of 300 elephants criss-crossing through the park area. Wildlife is present year-round in Tarangire, but is unusually dense during the months of June and September when migratory animals from outside of the park boundaries crowd around dry-season water sources. Pause for a picnic lunch, and then continue through the park on an afternoon game drive: animals flock to the edge of Lake Burunge, and Tarangire baobab and acacia forests shelter hundreds of species of birds as well as tree climbing pythons. Listen for the sounds of giant kingfishers, hoopoes, and the white-bellied go away bird, and scan the ground for disused termite mounds that are often home to dwarf mongoose. When your afternoon game drive concludes, make the return trip toMoshi/ Arusha and finish the day with drop-off at your hotel.
